Your eyes connect closely to your brain and the eye test allows the Ophthalmic Optician to see certain early signs of medical conditions you may not be aware of as well as conduct a visual ability test. Once tested your optician may advise you to use corrective measures such as spectacles or refer you for further tests at a hospital. You will receive a written test result sheet as designed by the NHS.

If you would like to choose spectacles our Qualified Dispensing Opticians will help you select suitable frames, lenses, finishes and coatings to suit you and your needs.

The test is in three parts –

field tests and possibly photo of back of eye

eye test using charts and colours

Physical inspection of the eyes

Some tests need the room light to be reduced and one eye covered.
